I cannot delete a published item
The retention lock is doing its job: published items and sent email templates must be kept 2 years, so archive instead.
Locked for the record, not forever.
The retention notice on a delete attempt
1
Read the retention notice: under Cannabis Regulations s.264, disseminated promotional material must be kept for 2 years, and the Library enforces this.
2
Check which lock applies: published non-email items are locked for 2 years after their publish date; email templates are locked for 2 years after their last actual send.
3
Archive the item instead: it leaves your main Library view but the record is kept.
4
After the relevant 2-year period passes, deletion is available.
Tips and good to know

The lock covers published product descriptions, social captions, blog posts, SMS, designs, and sent email templates.

Deleting content is also an Admin capability, so Location Managers will not see a delete option regardless of retention status.

The lock is protection: if Health Canada ever asks for your promotional record, it is intact.
