What is a trigger link

A short tracking URL that counts clicks, and can enroll the clicking contact into an automation.

A link that does more than redirect.

The Trigger Links page with a created link and its click count

1
Open Marketing, then Trigger Links.
2
Create a trigger link (you can also create one inline while configuring an automation trigger).
3
Paste the link wherever you like: emails, SMS, or social posts.
4
For SMS and social pastes, append ?c={contact_id} to the link so enrollment can fire. Emails get that stamped automatically at send time.

The contact parameter is what connects the click to a person.

5
Watch the click tracking, and let any automation watching the link enroll clickers.

Tips and good to know

Without the ?c={contact_id} parameter on SMS and social pastes, the click is not tied to a contact and cannot enroll anyone.
